What is Pre-Production?
Pre-Production is the planning stage of your project. Everything that occurs before you're ready to record happens during Pre-Production and it's the framework for which you'll build your project upon. It can't be emphasized enough that the more preparation you do before recording, the easier your process will be. The important aspects of Pre-Production include Outlining, Storyboarding, Scripting and more. As you review resources for Pre-Production, it is important to remember that although these elements are the framework for your project, the production and revising process may require you to make changes, and as your project evolves, your pre-production process should evolve with it.
Although every project is different, these common phases of pre-production help keep you organized, on-track, and on the same page with contributing team members. Each phase of production can take as little or as much time as you care to invest, but recognize that each phase helps cumulatively build upon the progress of your project.
